Alex Cora is a former Puerto Rican player. He also served as the manager of the Boston Red Sox and led the team to the 2018 World Series championship. As of 2019, Alex Cora net worth is estimated to be $15 million.

Born on October 18, 1975, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Cora was drafted in the 12th round of the 1993 Major League Baseball draft by the Minnesota Twins but didn’t sign a contract and instead decided to play college baseball at the University of Miami.

In 1996, he was rated by Baseball America as the best collegiate defensive player. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 3rd round.  He played 61 games of the 1996 season with the Class A-Advanced Vero Beach Dodgers, batting .257 with no home runs and 26 RBIs. In 1997, he played with the Double-A San Antonio Missions where he batted .234 with 3 home runs and 48 RBIs in 127 games.

His MLB debut with the Dodgers came against the Seattle Mariners on June 7, 1998. He spent the next seven years with the Dodgers appearing in a total of 684 games while batting .246 with 27 home runs and 173 RBIs.

In 2005, he signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians where he played 49 games, with 22 starts at shortstop and 14 at second base. He was then traded to the Boston Red Sox for Ramon Vazquez.

On July 7, 2005, Cora made his Red Sox debut. He ended that season appearing in a total of 47 games batting .269 with 2 home runs and 16 RBIs. Cora then went on to play for New York Mets in 2009, Texas Rangers in 2010, and Washington Nationals in 2011. After that, he played winter baseball in Puerto Rico. In 2012, he announced his retirement.

Alex Cora as a manager coached for Boston Red Sox. Cora in his first season as a manager led the team to the 2018 World Series championship. In doing so, he became the fifth manager to do so in MLB history and the first as a Puerto Rican manager. In November 2019, he was implicated in a sign-stealing scandal during his time as a coach with the Houston Astros. On January 14, 2020, due to the sign-stealing scandal, the Red Sox and Cora mutually agreed to part ways.
